Open postdoc position at Northeastern University |
03/12/2014 |
Shashi Murthy’s lab at Northeastern University (www.microfluidicslab.org) is looking for a postdoc to work on various aspects of sample preparation for proteomics of limited-amount clinical samples. Major aspects of this work will be in collaboration with Barry Karger’s group in the Barnett Institute at Northeastern and Steven Carr’s group at the Broad Institute of Harvard & MIT. Collaborations are also expected with one or more instrument companies. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in either microfluidics or mass spectrometry with the idea that she/he will acquire skills in the other area in this postdoc position. Beyond the ability to do excellent scientific work, the ideal candidate will be someone who will energetically assist in developing and writing grant proposals as well as seek funding from industrial and non-traditional sources (e.g. donors to the university and even crowdfunding). An interest in technology commercialization will also be a big plus. A minimum 3- year commitment is expected.
